Santa Claus
A long time ago, about one thousand five hundred years, in a village called Patara in the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea in Central Asia; a child was born of very rich parents. He was named Nikelao which means "victory of the people" in Castilian "Nicholas" and Claus in English.
Claus since he was very small developed a deep love for Jesus, and he promised to live like him: helping the poor, healing the sick, forgiving their enemies, doing good to all children and blessing them.
Claus' parents died when he was still a teenager and he became a very rich young man. Claus began using the fortune he inherited from his parents to do good for others.
A rich friend of Claus, who has three daughters, was ruined. The poor man was tempted to sell their daughters so they will not suffer from hunger. Claus learned of this, and to avoid it, each night he will go up to the roof of his friend's house, and coming down the chimney he will left cool gold gifts.
Very near Patara in a town called Myra, lived a very old bishop, who was tired and couldn't find a person to replace him in his office.
One day the old bishop told Jesus in prayer that he couldn't hold any longer and that he would give his position as bishop to the next man who entered the gates of the church. Claus was going there at the time this occurred, and in doing so, he suddenly became Bishop of Myra.
Claus as bishop of Mira was devoted to ensuring that people put into practice the teachings of Jesus, love their neighbor as themselves, giving him food for those who were hungry, forgiving the perpetrators and blessings all.
Claus was still very young when he became a bishop, and besides that, he had the reputation of being a saint. Once there was an acute shortage of food in Myra and near the port three was a ship loaded with supplies. Claus asked the captain of the boat to leave all the supplies so that people would not die of starvation. The captain accepted, leaving the ship completely empty. As soon as the boat sailed, Claus did a miracle and the ship was full of food again.
Myra lived a very bad man who liked to kill the children and serve as a meal in a restaurant he had. Santa Claus to learn that he ran to the restaurant, scolding the killer and with a wonderful power given by God, raised from the dead those children who had been slaughtered.
Every December, Claus was involved with care to receive the Spirit of Christmas, celebrating the day twenty-four the birth of Jesus, handing out gifts to people, especially children. One Christmas, some crooks, out of pure evil, decided to burn Claus' church and everything was returned ashes but one Baby Jesus was miraculously saved from the flames bt Claus that nestled it in his arms without burning, while drawing on his face a great expression of joy and victory.
Claus had a very pleasant laugh, very strong, that the children loved. When he laughed, the whole nature is filled with joys and all sorrows disappear from the hearts.
One day in December fith, when Claus was preparing in advance for Christmas, God called him to His side to help him from the sky in the Christmas celebrations. From that day on, every December Claus is dedicated of helping Jesus in the holiday season providing money to parents so that they can buy many toys on behalf of Claus and Jesus.
The lifeless body of Claus never corrupted like other corpses, but it began to pour out a fragrant oil that sick people used to be healed. The body of Claus was placed in a beautiful carved marble sarcophagus, and there he spent almost entirely intact five hundred years and he was no longer called Claus, but Santa Claus.
The fame of Santa Claus spread across the land and many churches were devoted to his name. It became a patron and protector of children, sailors, Christmas and Russia.
One day sailors learned about Italian invaders that were planning to desecrate the body of Santa Claus, that for that reason, few sailors decided to move the body of Santa Claus, from Myra to Bari, on the east coast of southern Italy. For this reason many people are familiar with Santa Claus as San Nicolas de Bari.
Sailors from around the world came to Bari expanded the belief and love to St. Claus to northern Europe. One day a Dutch immigrant who went to live in New York led the devotion of Santa Claus to the United States of North America, where he began to call only, "Santa".
In a night of Christmas in New York, under the cloak of a beautiful white snow, the children of the famous writer Clement Clarke Moore asked him to tell them the story of Santa.
Clement, recalling some of the true story of Santa, wrote a story that quickly became famous in all homes and schools, it said: "Santa, every twenty-fourth day of December comes down the chimney of the houses bringing gifts to all children that are kind." This sotry filled with excitement and hope the hearts of the people who are aware of the true story of Santa Claus.
A painter called Habdon Sudblom, who worked for the factory of Coca Cola beverages, had the idea to paint a very merry Santa, carrying a bag full of toys, dressed in red with a white beard and a big belly, drinking a bottle of Coca Cola.
Today all the world's children and many adults too, hope that Santa comes down the chimney and leaves them a gift at the foot of the tree on Christmas night.
Still in the city of Myra exist the church where Santa Claus lived, and in Bari, people still revered the relics of the body of Santa Claus, that still emanating the miraculous curative and perfumed oil.
Santa Claus exists, and lively work from the sky, helping children and adults as it did when I lived in the land.
People that love Santa Claus tell him their love in many ways, such as Santa Claus or Saint Nicholas. They imagined him living in a house in the North Pole in a sleigh pulled by reindeers, surrounded by gnomes that make toys, and they have invented him a wife named "Lady of Claus."
Remember that each Christmas Santa Claus is coming to us and he is very happy when, with much affection, we give a gift to someone, because we are thinking of others, rather than on us, and this is putting into practice the teachings of Jesus as Santa Claus did.
Behind every person who gives a gift, there is an image of Santa Claus that embodies the love and enthusiasm for Christmas that he had.
